Meet the author
Marisa Ebsworth
¡Hola!
I’m Marisa, the author of The Cat and the Cucumber. I’m originally from Perth, Western Australia, but my heart has been deeply shaped by my travels through Latin America—especially Central America, where I lived for several years.
It was during that time that I immersed myself in the local cultures and achieved a longtime goal of mine: learning Spanish. That experience not only sparked my passion for language learning, but also inspired me to create bilingual resources that make language more accessible and fun—starting with this story!
I've always been fascinated by languages and the way they open doors to deeper cultural understanding. Learning a second language has so many benefits—not just intellectually, but socially and emotionally—and it's something we can all do, at any age.
The Cat and the Cucumber is designed to support young readers on their bilingual journey. It can be enjoyed in either English or Spanish, making it a flexible and engaging tool for learning vocabulary, rhythm, and pronunciation in both languages.
My hope is to one day publish this story in many other languages, making it a bridge between cultures for children all over the world.
Stay tuned for more!
